Nutrition in Pregnancy

Pregnancy hunger is REAL. Nutrition in pregnancy is honestly the cornerstone to midwifery care. In most cases when you mention an issue, our first question is going to be "What have you eaten today?" Protein will be your best friend. It will curb that morning sickness and help give you energy. We say in pregnancy that you need to eat an extra 100 grams of protein a day. That can sound daunting, but you really shouldn't be going more than a few hours without something to eat. Have breakfast, have a snack, have lunch, have a snack, have dinner, have a snack. Get up to pee in the middle of the night? Grab a snack! Everytime you eat, you are feeding and nourishing your body so that your baby can eat as well. So that your baby's brain can develop. So that your baby's heart will beat regularly while in he womb. So that your baby will grow and be a healthy weight to breathe and eat well outside of the womb.
