Home Visits for Home Birth Clients

One of our favorite prenatal milestones is the 36-week home visit for our clients who have chosen to birth at home!
During this visit, we come to your home to become familiar with your birth space before labor begins. We'll learn the best route to your house, talk through where you plan to labor and give birth, identify the ideal setup for your birth supplies, and answer any last-minute questions you or your partner may have.
This visit helps everyone feel more prepared and confident when the big day arrives. Instead of figuring out logistics while you're in labor, we've already walked through everything together. It's one of the many beautiful parts of midwifery care—taking the time to prepare, build relationships, and make sure you feel supported before labor ever begins.
Preparation starts even earlier, too.
At your 28-week prenatal appointment, every Blessed Joy home birth client receives a Home Birth Kit filled with the supplies needed for your birth, along with a folder full of helpful information, educational resources, and a few goodies to help you prepare for your baby's arrival.
We believe that home birth is about so much more than the place where your baby is born. It's about feeling prepared, informed, and cared for throughout your entire pregnancy. Every prenatal visit builds upon the last, helping you enter labor with confidence, peace of mind, and the reassurance that your midwife is with you every step of the way.
And our care doesn't end once your baby arrives.
Whether you give birth in your home or at our birth center, we'll come to your home for your 2-day postpartum visit. Those first few days with a newborn are full of learning, healing, and adjusting, and we love being able to care for you in the comfort of your own home.
We'll continue to see both you and your baby for your 2-week and 6-week postpartum visits back at the birth center. In between those visits, our midwives remain on call to answer questions, offer reassurance, and support you as you navigate those first precious weeks with your little one.
From your first prenatal appointment to your final postpartum visit, our goal is to provide care that feels personal, intentional, and centered on your family. Because at Blessed Joy, you're never just preparing for a birth—you’re preparing to welcome a new life, and we're honored to walk that journey with you.
