Wow!!! Pumping is like a

part time job but this mama is rocking it!!
Did you know your body may begin producing
colostrum before your baby is even born?
Colostrum—the thick, golden first milk often called
“liquid gold”—is packed with antibodies, nutrients, and
immune support for your newborn. For some families,
hand expressing and collecting colostrum during the
final weeks of pregnancy can be a helpful tool in
preparing for postpartum and feeding baby.
Some potential benefits of antenatal colostrum
collection may include:
✨ Becoming familiar with your body and milk
production
✨ Having stored colostrum available if baby needs
extra support after birth
✨ Supporting babies who may have blood sugar
concerns after delivery
✨ Building confidence before breastfeeding begins
✨ Reducing stress if early feeding challenges arise
Colostrum is produced in very small amounts—but
those tiny drops are incredibly powerful for a newborn’s
developing immune system and tiny stomach.
As always, colostrum collection during pregnancy is not
for everyone and should be discussed with your
provider first, especially in higher-risk pregnancies.
Your body begins preparing to nourish your baby long
before birth ever begins—and that is amazing.
